The Indian Test team has completed its transition from the late last decade as a whole group of young talent is ready to take on obstacles all around the world. Kohli with his youth and vigor will start his career as a full time captain for the Test team and Rahul Dravid the ex skipper wanted people to give him time to settle as a skipper.
Dravid, who was at an event organized by P&G Siksha, said that Kohli is now taking up the role of the India captain in the most important form of cricket, and will take some time to settle into the post of a captain. He pointed out that India plays a lot of series in the next two and a half years and that too at home and that these games will give him a chance to improve not only as a captain but also as a player.
Dravid felt that every one surrounding him and waiting for his response as the skipper, should give him some space and time to settle into the new role. He said that the youngster will take time to adjust and that everyone must be patient with him.
Dravid who is now in charge of the India-A team and the U-19 national team explained that in the near future youngsters in the team will be given plenty of opportunities to prove themselves.
The A team will play a home series against Australia A in July and South Africa A in August. Dravid said that these will be great times for young cricketers who can perform and be noticed by the national selectors.
Dravid also spoke about the plans of the BCCI to have more tours for the junior teams. The BCCI is also planning to give youngsters a chance to tour a country a year before the senior team is scheduled to tour. He said that it was all about managing the time and schedule. He felt that the best time to tour the young teams would be tight after the IPL when there is a break in the domestic calendar.
