IPL 2020: Rajasthan Royals’ Players Wearing PPE Kits Depart For UAE

Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Rajasthan Royals (RR) players, on Thursday, have left for the United Arab Emirates (UAE), to feature in the upcoming edition, scheduled to begin from 19th September.

The players were spotted at the airport wearing PPE kits for the safety. The veteran cricketer Robin Uthappa was also seen wearing all the safety gear as he leaves with the team for the UAE.

Rajasthan Royals had reassigned the captaincy to Australian cricketer Steven Smith for the IPL 2020 edition but he is set to miss the first week of the tournament owing to national duty.

England players Jofra Archer, Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler who are bound with RR contract will also miss the league for the first week, because they will compete in a bilateral series against Australia, starting September 4.

They have bagged the service of India’s youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal and Kartik Tyagi, which were their expensive buy. The Rajasthan Royals had bought Tom Curran, David Miller in the overseas list.

Chennai Super Kings will leave for the UAE on Friday as the players have already gathered in Chennai. MS Dhoni-led side has been practicing in Tamil Nadu pitches for six days. As they will land in the UAE, players will have to follow a 14-days quarantine period during which they will be tested several times. All the players will be kept under a bio-secure environment to curb the spread of the virus.

Earlier in the day, Kings XI Punjab fast bowler Mohammed Shami also posted an Instagram story, revealing that players from the Punjab-based franchise have departed for the UAE.

The grand finale of the league will be played on 10th November. However, BCCI is yet to announce the fixtures of the much-awaited league.
