In the opening game of the Ram Slam Challenge 2014, Knights began their campaign on a winning note by beating Warriors comfortabley in a one-sided encounter.

Winning the toss, Warriors decided to bowl first only to find themselves in a state of bother as the Knights’s openers flew away to a great start. Abrahams put on 78 off just 9 overs before Smuts got a wicket.

Soon Abhrahams departed for 48 ending his innings in unconvencing way by running himself out. Knights lost the momentum and were five down for 138 in 17th over. But it was Rosier and Pienaar to a total who didn’t expected. Rosier remained unbeaten on 55 off 27 balls and Rienaar fired up to a 10-ball 35 as the both shared a stand off 67 of last 20 balls of the innings to take Knights to 205 for 5 in 20 overs.

Later in their chase of 206, Warriors never looked to be in the game as D du Preez ran through the batting off Warriors. Kieswetter was only solo performer with bat for Warriors as he sneaked in with a fifty off 36 balls and top scored among their team with 51. With 168 needed for Warriors to avoid Knights winning the bonus point, they got bowled out for just 131 allowing Knights to get extra points.


Knights: 205 for 5 in 20 overs (DS Rosier 55*, GJ Abrahams 48; JT Smuts 2/28, SR Harmer 1/32) beat Warriors: 131 all out in 18.5 overs (C Keiswetter 51, SR Harmer 19; D du Preez 4/25, AJ Pienaar 1/14) by 74 runs
