Gautam Gambhir’s ton leads Delhi’s Charge
All eyes were on the dropouts from India’s 30 men probables for the 2015 World Cup Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag as both are representing Delhi against Saurashtra in their first round match at the Roshanara Club Ground, New Delhi. Yuvraj Singh’s 59 in vain as Punjab bundled out for 275
Punjab’s Yuvraj Singh, who was also dropped from India’s 30 men probables for the World Cup led Punjab’s charge with a fighting 59 but that knock could not save his side from ending up in a strong position against Haryana at Patiala. Punjab were bundled out for 273 in 81 overs courtesy JJ Yadav’s 6 wickets burst conceding 85 runs. Amitoze Singh made 45 and Gurkeerat Singh made 43 in their273. At stumps, Haryana ended with 19-1. Sidharth Kaul scalped the lone wicket of Avi Barot for 8. Punjab are without the services of Harbhajan Singh.

Tamil Nadu have Champions Karnataka on the mat
Tamil Nadu got of their Ranji season off to a great start as they hold the edge over defending Champions Karnataka in their first round Ranji Trophy clash at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium Bengaluru. Kunal Kapoor’s fifty on debut (87) along with CM Gautam’s 94 propelled Karnataka to a decent total of 290 after they were reduced for 97-5 in the first session of play. TN bowlers made early inroads as they dismissed Robin Uthappa, Mayank Agarwal, Manish Pandey, Karun Nair and Stuart Binny to pile the pressure on the hosts. Jaganathan Kaushik took 4 wickets and led TN’s charge. In reply, Tamil Nadu end the first day on 22 for no loss.

Giant-Killers Jammu and Kashmir in command against Giants Mumbai
It was not an ideal start for domestic giants Mumbai against the giant killers from the last season Jammu and Kashmir in their first round match at the Wankhade Stadium, Mumbai. J&K bowlers made the life difficult for the Mumbai batsmen right from the word go and took wickets at regular intervals. Suryakumar Yadav’s 57 and Dhawal Kulkarni’s 42 were not enough for Mumbai as they were cleaned up for 236. Wasim Raja and Ram Dayal finished with 3 wickets each for J&K. In reply, J&K end day 1 on 88-1 trialling Mumbai by 148 runs with four days to go. Shubham Kajuria is batting on 47 while Bandeep Singh is batting on 34.
