Ranji Trophy 2015-16 Final: Saurashtra struggling on Day 1

In the finals of the Ranji Trophy, 2015/2016 season played between Saurashtra and Mumbai played at MCA Stadium, Pune, Mumbai have made use of the conditions. Mumbai won the toss and choose to field.

Saurashtra struggled right from the start as they lost 3 early wickets. Dhawal Kulkarni was the pick of bowlers in the first session. Pujara too was dismissed for 4. At lunch, Sauhastra were struggling at 70 for 4.

After lunch, the Mumbai bowlers continued their disciplined bowling by picking wickets and also stopping the flow of runs. Vasavada played an important and patient knock. From the other end, wickets were going down at regular intervals. Saurashtra played bad strokes and gave their wickets away. At the end of the second session, Saurashtra were struggling at 126 for 7.

In the third session, the debutant Mankand and Vasavda held the innings together. Both of them played good cricketing shots. Mankad completed his maiden half-century. Vasavada  and Mankad put up 84 runs stand for the 8th wicket as Vasavada was dismissed for 77 by Dhawal Kulkarni. Saurashtra ended day 1 on 192 for 8. Mankad was not out on 55.

From Mumbai, Dhawal Kulkarni was the pick of the bowlers with 4 for 30 in 18.4 over’s, Thakur picking 2 wickets, Nayar and Sandhu picking 1 wicket each.
