After the historic win against Sri Lanka, Team Director Ravi Shastri’s tenure has been extended upto T20 World Cup 2016. The other major reason being the fact that BCCI is yet to appoint a full time coach and seems to be in no hurry in doing so. Along with Ravi Shastri, the tenure of the assistant coaches oaches Sanjay Bangar, B Arun and R Sridhar has also been extended upto the T20 World Cup 2016.
T20 World 2016 will be played in India from from Match 11 to April 3 2016. This tournament will feature 16 teams, with 10 permanent memebers and 6 affiliate members. The affiliate teams to qualify for the event are Scotland, Ireland, the Netherlands, Afghanistan, Hong Kong and Oman.
However BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur had earlier said that a full time coach will be apponted before South Africa’s tour to India. However it is being believed that the BCCI is busy with several matters, like one of N. Srinivasan, and is not getting enough time to appoint a coach.
Also, Ravi Shastri is keen to have a full time contract. It will be interesting to see if Ravi will be considered for a full time role or will just be used as a temporary solution
