Delhi Capitals Could Be The Front Runners For The Title – Ravichandran Ashwin
Ravichandran Ashwin, India’s veteran spinner, has revealed that if he could help Delhi Capitals strengthen their bowling, then the team would be the front runners for the IPL title. Delhi is yet to savor success in the IPL history and they had made their way into the playoff stages in IPL 2109 after six years. Ashwin added that he feels the team can go all the way.
Ashwin led Kings XI Punjab in two seasons but could not produce the results for the team. Punjab received 1.50 crores and Karnataka’s spinner Jagadeesha Suchith from Delhi Capitals for Ashwin. The off-spinner led Kings XI Punjab in 28 IPL matches in which the side won 12 whereas they lost 16.
Ravichandran Ashwin has all the experience under his belt.
On the other hand, Ashwin has all the experience under his belt and there is no doubt that it can come in handy for the Capitals. The experienced off-spinner has thus far played 139 IPL matches in which he has scalped 125 wickets at an impressive economy rate of 6.79.
Ashwin added that Delhi Capitals has some exciting young talent in Rishabh Pant and Prithvi Shaw. The off-spinner believes the club will benefit from his experience and he would aim to give his best to the franchise.
Speaking on the franchise’s official Instagram handle during a Live session, Ashwin said, “I was coming to a franchise which had qualified for the playoffs last season, and had some very exciting players including Rishabh (Pant) and Prithvi (Shaw). I thought I could use my experience for the franchise and improve the team further. If I could help in strengthening the bowling, we could be the front runners for the title, I came with that intention”.
Ashwin would like to tick the right boxes for Delhi Capitals. Meanwhile, Delhi now has experienced Indian players like Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane, Ishant Sharma and Ashwin. Thus, these players would like to make the most of their experience to deliver the goods for the franchise.
Delhi is led by a young Shreyas Iyer, who had a fine job in IPL 2019. The Delhi team had finished at the third place in the league stages after winning nine matches out of the 14 matches. Thus, they would like to continue their good form, if the IPL happens this year.
