Ravindra Jadeja Will Miss All 4-Tests Against England At Home

Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of India’s home Test series against England as he won’t recover in time.

Ravindra Jadeja was not a part of the squad named for the first two Tests, and now it has emerged that he won’t be available for the last two Tests either.

Ravindra Jadeja Needs 6 Weeks To Recover After Undergoing Surgery On Thumb

According to a report, Ravindra Jadeja will need six weeks to recover after undergoing surgery on his dislocated left thumb. He was injured while batting in the third Test in Sydney and missed the fourth Test in Brisbane. A call on his participation in the five T20Is and three ODIs against England after the Tests will be taken later. The first of four Tests against England begins in Chennai on February 5.

In the Australian tests, he averaged 85 with bat and 15 with the ball which is remarkable but his absence wasn’t felt that much as other cricketers stood up as India won 4th Test. In the 3rd Test, the left-handed batting all-rounder made a valuable unbeaten 28 and took four wickets in the first innings but while batting, a short ball from Mitchell Starc hit him on gloves which required medical attention.

Virat Kohli, Ishant Sharma And Hardik Pandya Returns While T Natarajan, Navdeep Saini Misses Out

India announced the squad for the England tour on Tuesday on the same day India won Test series in Australia. Virat Kohli returns to lead the 18-member squad while pacer Ishant Sharma, who returned to full fitness and was part of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021 playing for Delhi is also back alongside Hardik Pandya, who was not part of the Test squad in Australia.

Jasprit Bumrah leads the bowling attack with Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur retains their places from the current series against Australia after good showing while T Natarajan, who made his debut in the fourth Test and returned three wickets, misses out along with pacer Navdeep Saini.

Ravichandran Ashwin too finds a place in the squad despite not playing the final Test with a back problem while Washington Sundar, a late replacement for the injured Ravindra Jadeja in the fourth Test, also retains his place on the back of his all-round abilities.

Kuldeep Yadav, who featured in only one game in the entire tour of Australia and was not given a chance in any of 4 Tests also retains his place. Left-arm spinner Axar Patel has also been added to the squad. He is yet to play a Test but featured in 38 ODIs and 11 T20Is.
