Reasons Why Rohit Sharma And Mohammed Shami Got Snubbed For The Last Two Tests

BCCI have announced the squad for the final two tests but the major news from the squad announcement is the snubbing of Mohammed Shami and Rohit Sharma from the team despite both the players recovered from their respective injuries.

Here we look at the potential reasons why they were not selected for the upcoming tests.

#1. Fitness Issues

Both the players have recently recovered from their respective injuries. If either Rohit Sharma or Mohammed Shami have completely recovered from their injuries, they might have been selected but the board might have dropped him to ensure that they fully recover before taking to the cricket field once again.

The players would surely feel that they do not suffer another injury coming back into the side.

#2. Indian Premier League

If Rohit Sharma or Mohammed Shami was selected to the final two tests, they might not be at their best going into the cash rich Indian Premier League which will begin in the first week of April.

The franchises would be hoping that the players are well rested before the grueling season as they expect the best from their players.

#3. Champions Trophy

Indian selectors would have eyed that with Champions Trophy coming up, they need their best players to be well relaxed ahead of the tournament. As the players are expected to play in IPL, the selectors might not wanted to put extra load into their schedule as they have recently recovered from their injuries.

India will need both Rohit Sharma and Shami in the tournament as they play as the defending champions and will look to win it once again this summer.

#4. Good Performance By Current Indian Team

The current Indian team has a rich of reserves at their helm as they have been in incredible form in the longest format of the game. The middle order boasts the likes of Ajinkya Rahane, Karun Nair, Virat Kohli, Ravichandran Ashwin to name a few while pace department contains Umesh yadav, Ishant Sharma who are at the peak of their form at the moment.

It is not so needed for the selectors to force Rohit Sharma, Mohammed Shami into the first team as they eye to give them better rest for the upcoming tournaments.
