The on-going Test series between India and West Indies has seen quite a handful of records being made by the players from either side and Indian batsman Rohit Sharma has become the latest player to set a big record.

The right-handed batsman is already the proud owner of several records in One Day International (ODI) cricket. The Mumbai batsman holds the record of highest individual score in ODI cricket and is the only batsman to score two double hundreds in the 50-over cricket. He also jointly holds the record of most sixes in an ODI innings.

Now the 29-year old, who scored 41 runs in the second innings studded with three sixes, has hit 30 sixes this year in international cricket.

With this Rohit Sharma has now hit 30 or more sixes in a calendar year in four consecutive years. He achieved the feat for first time in 2013 and has continued it since then. He has become the first Indian batsman to achieve this milestone and second overall. The only other batsman to achieve that feat was former New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum. McCullum hit thirty or more sixes in a calendar year consecutively from 2007 to 2010.

Records apart Rohit Sharma will have to start performing in Test cricket if he wants to become a regular in the playing eleven. Rohit, who made a comeback in this match, failed to perform in the first innings and was dismissed for only 9 in the first innings.

Meanwhile the Indian team has set the hosts a target of 345 after scoring 217 for 7 declared in the second innings.
