A recall is the on the cards as the India selectors are likely to recall swashbuckling batsman Rohit Sharma for the Test series against Australia.
Meanwhile, the selectors omitted Rohit from the two-match Test series against Windies. This brought the role of the selectors under the scanner despite Rohit showing good form in the Asia Cup. The move surprised many, including legends like Sourav Ganguly and Harbhajan Singh. However, a Test recall, may not be far away for the Mumbai batsman.
As per a report in The Mumbai Mirror, Rohit Sharma is likely to return in the Test team for the Australia tour. The report further states that his stroke-making ability on bouncy tracks can be the reason for his comeback.
While Rohit remains one of the best openers going around in limited-overs cricket, his record in the Test format, especially overseas, has been less than stellar. The right-hander had featured in India’s home Test series against Sri Lanka at the end of the last year but a poor display on the tour of South Africa saw him dropped for the squad for the England series and one-off clash against Afghanistan.
However, it will be interesting to see how Rohit Sharma fare in Australia if he really gets an opportunity.
India will play three T20Is to commence the tour followed by four Tests and three ODIs in a two-month long tour.
