Chennai Super Kings (CSK) veteran opener Shane Watson has heaped praise on his young teammate — Ruturaj Gaikwad, who starred in the last win against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

After being out for duck two times in his first of three matches, Gaikwad has found his form back in the last two matches. Although CSK has been knocked out of the tournament, his performance has brought smiles and positivity to the camp as they are near to end their journey in the 13th edition of the league.

While chasing 172 runs target set by KKR, Ruturaj Gaikwad, batting as an opener, was earlier hesitating to hit the boundary. But soon he found the rhythm and smashed 72 runs off 53 balls, striking six fours and two sixes. As he set a good base for CSK, Ravindra Jadeja finished the job for them.

Shane Watson, who had set 50 runs partnership with the 23-year-old, was full of praise of his opening partner’s batting. The former Aussie cricketer was impressed with Gaikwad’s approach in the field and labelled him the ‘young superstar in the making’.

“He is so calm and composed at the crease. And the shots that he plays, not premeditating anything, wherever the ball is bowled, he takes the game on. It has been an absolute pleasure to be able to bat with you (Gaikwad). CSK fans back at home as well, you have certainly got a lot to cheer about because of this young superstar in the making,” Shane Watson, who has been a key player for CSK in the last few years, said.

Ruturaj Gaikwad had also impressed with his gutsy knock of unbeaten 65 runs to take the game home against RCB. He will want to repeat the similar innings in the last match of CSK against Kings XI Punjab to end the tournament on a winning note.
