The legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has shared a helpful piece of advice to Virat Kohli and Co. for their maiden pink-ball Test match against Australia in Adelaide, which is also the first Test of the four-match series. He reckons India needs to keep eye on the clock for the day-night Test match and has also given a reason for the same.

Sachin Tendulkar on the conditions:

In the recent interaction, Sachin Tendulkar explained that after the sunsets, balls start swinging more in comparison to the day time. The temperature drops while dew sets in and thus, India needs to score more and more during the daylight. As per him, India needs to keep changing its strategy according to the time.

“Whatever I have seen with the pink-ball Tests, you have to be extremely aware of the clock. Whenever the sun is going down and the temperature drops and before dew sets in and the grass is nice and cool, there is going to be a little extra lateral movement of the surface. That is when you don’t just respect the bowler but you also respect the conditions,” Sachin Tendulkar said.

India won the toss and opted to bat:

Australia has played seven pink-ball Test and has been undefeatable in all the occasions while India has played only one pink-ball Test that too against Bangladesh at home. This could put Tim Paine’s team in an advantageous position, adding to the fact that they will be more accustomed to the conditions at home.

In the ongoing Adeliade Test, Indian captain Virat Kohli has also won the toss and opted to bat. He also repeated Sachin Tendulkar’s words during the toss.

“Here in a pink-ball Test, your first session could well be the one where you cash in where you take a little more chances and play more aggressively. Maybe in Australia, the sun goes down later than it did in Kolkata,” Virat Kohli said during the toss.
