The legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has arrived in Australia to coach a team in the Bushfire Cricket Bash. This game is being played for charity to raise funds for the devastating bushfire in the smallest continent. While addressing the media, the Master Blaster was asked to name a player who he thinks the closest to resembling him.

Marnus Labuschagne is the choice of Sachin Tendulkar:

Answering to the question, Sachin took the name of Australian cricketer Marnus Labushagne who got the limelight since getting the opportunity as the substitute of Steve Smith in Ashes 2019. He believes that Labuschagne’s fine footwork shows how confident a player he is.

“I happened to be watching the second Test match at Lord’s between England and Australia. When Steve Smith got injured I saw Labuschagne’s second innings,”

There is something about him. His footwork was precise. Footwork is not physical, it’s mental. If you’re not thinking positively in your mind, then your feet don’t move. His footwork was incredible,” Sachin said.

In Ashes 2019, Steve Smith was ruled out in the middle of the second Test because of concussion injury. Fortunately, in place of Steve, Marnus Labuschagne got the chance. He grabbed the opportunity with an open hand. Labuschagne made four consecutive half-centuries to notch up 353 runs at 50.42 in the Ashes 2019.

Labuschagne was the highest scorer in the Test cricket last year with 1,104 runs. His prolific performance in the longest format gave him a chance in the shorter formats. With the start of 2020, he went on to make the debut in ODI against India. In the three-match ODI series, he scored 46 and 54 in the second and third ODI respectively. However, Australia lost that series.

Meanwhile, the charity game will be played on Sunday (9th February) at Junction Oval (Melbourne). The two teams will be two teams Ponting XI and Gilchrist XI.
