Sir Don George Bradman was born today 110 years ago and he went down as unarguably the greatest batsman of all time. Indian legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar recalled the vivid memory when he met Sir Don Bradman for the first time.
Sir Don Bradman had called Shane Warne and Sachin Tendulkar to meet him. In fact, the Master Blaster still remembers the quality time he spent with his all-time hero.
Sir Don Bradman was a magician.
Meanwhile, Sir Don Bradman had claimed that Tendulkar style of play was quite similar to him. The greatest batsman had said, “I saw him playing on television and was struck by his technique, so I asked my wife to come to look at him. Now I never saw myself play, but I felt that this player is playing with a style similar to mine, and she looked at him on Television and said yes, there is a similarity between the two…his compactness, technique, stroke production… it all seemed to gel!”.
Sir Don Bradman had an unbelievable average of 99.94. The talisman right-hander needed four runs in his last innings to take his average to 100. However, he was dismissed for nought in his swansong.
Bradman scored 29 Test centuries in 69 matches as he gathered 6996 runs in his illustrious career. Thus, he is regarded as the best of all-time.
Sachin Tendulkar recalled the time when he met Sir Don Bradman for the first time. Tendulkar took to Twitter to remember Sir Don Bradman on his 110th birth anniversary.
Sachin post read as, “It’s been 20 years since I met the inspirational Sir #DonBradman but that special memory is so vivid. I still recall his amazing wit, warmth, and wisdom. Remembering him fondly today, on what would have been his 110th birthday”.
