Cricket World Cup 2015: Sachin Tendulkar v/s Indian Team – Tied at 3 All

Mohit Camma / 08 January 2015

Since the 1992 World Cup this would be the first time when Sachin Tendulkar will not featured in a World Cup for Indian team. Such has been the career of the Master Blaster that his stats alone are enough to match that of a whole team.

Today, we will compare the ODI stats between the 15 players chosen to represent India in the Cricket World Cup 2015 along with that of Sachin Tendulkar’s career.

Firstly let us give you the list of Indian squad for the world cup:
Mahendra Singh Dhoni (capt, wk), Virat Kohli (vice-capt), Ajinkya Rahane, Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Stuart Binny, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, Ambati Rayudu, Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav and Ishant Sharma.

Comparing 15 players stats put together to that of a single player might be considered a bit too harsh but when it is Sachin Tendulkar as that one player then it is not that harsh. There are few things where Sachin way below compared to the combined stats of the squad but there are few places too where Sachin turns out to be better than all 15 combined.

The Indian squad leads against Sachin the number of matches played, runs scored and number of 50s hit by some good margin. But on the other hand Sachin leads in the number of centuries hit, Batting average and Batting Strike Rate. Which makes score levelled at 3 all between the two.

The current Indian squad is also considered to be one of the least experienced squads from India appearing for a world cup, but none can deny that these youngsters have loads of talent and will try their best to defend the title as well.

But will this squad be able to do so or you feel someone important has been left out? Share your views with us
