Sachin’s Jersey to go Under the Hammer for YouWeCan

Days after scoring a fighting century which brought his team Marylebone Cricket Club into the match against the Rest Of World in the Lords bicentenary celebrations, star Indian batsman Yuvraj Singh will stay back in London and hold an auctions for his cancer initiative program YouWeCan.

YouWeCan is an initiative started by Yuvraj Singh which aims at creating awareness and providing support to the patients who fight cancer, the same disease that threatened Yuvraj his life a couple of years ago. The initiative also facilitates in detecting the disease in its early stage and prevent it before it takes toll on one’s health.

The YouWeCan is organising an auction to raise funds to serve the cancer patients. The auction will take place on July 14 at the London Hilton and it includes the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, Virat Kohli and Kevin Pietersen who are expected to make their presence felt. Aftermath the auction, there will be a special program hosted by India’s leading comedian Kapil Sharma.

The items which will go under the hammer includes the jersey worn by Sachin Tendulkar in his 200th and final test match, India’s 2011 World Cup winning medal along with a chance to have a dinner date with Yuvraj Singh and a practise session with the dashing southpaw himself.

“I have always believed that no matter how hard a battle is, if you have the will, you can win it. It was because of my will power, love and support which my friends, family and fans gave helped me to fight and survived cancer,” Yuvraj said in a statement.

IPL’s most expensive player also added “With YouWeCan, I want to reach out to all those who are suffering from cancer and often feel the lack of support in their fight. I am sure with the proceedings we gain from this auction, we will be able to support our agenda of early detection, awareness and removing the stigma around cancer.”
