Saeed Ajmal set to be included in 15-man Pakistan World Cup squad

Shashi / 26 December 2014

The leading off-spinner of Pakistan, Saeed Ajmal is included in the 15-man squad for the World Cup, 2015 which is scheduled to be held in February-March, 2015. The news is based on the media reports of late.

Ajmal was banned from all forms of international cricket due to illegal bowling action. The ban was imposed by the International Cricket Council (ICC), following which, Ajmal practiced hard with his new bowling action and is at the moment ready with his new bowling action. He has also played some domestic matches with his revised bowling action and that seems quite much fair.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was hoping to get Ajmal’s action cleared before the starting of the World Cup tournament.

It is also expected that Saeed Ajmal would be allowed to play in the World Cup which starts from the 14th February, 2015. But that is based upon the condition that if he manages to get his action cleared at the international level by then.

Also it is quite a matter of fact that the Pakistan team management would be allowed to get in a replacement beyond the deadline if he fails to clear the tests by then. Ajmal has not played an international match since August in this year, mostly due to his ban from all forms of cricket.

After his ban, he practiced hard for his new bowling actionn hard under the guidance of Saqlain Mushtaq. He succeeded in implementing his new bowling action which appears to be much cleaner than the previous one.

Also, he did practice with this particular action in the domestic level as well. Recently, Kenya A toured Pakistan and played an ODI series against PakistanA. Ajmal played for the Pakistan A team and performed decently there. Also, he seemed quite relaxed and did not have any sort of problems with his bowling actions. He took a wicket and gave 23 runs in a match for Pakistan A against Kenya recently.
