A report by News18.com has revealed the payments of the Indian umpires for the services they provided in the Indian Premier League 2016. The salaries of Umpires namely Anil Chaudhary, C.K. Nandan and Chettithody Shamshuddin have been revealed in the report. According to the report, all the three umpires were paid in the region of around Rupees 40 Lakhs for their services. Chaudhary was paid an amount of Rs. 39,63, 762.00, both Nandan and Shamsuddin were paid an amount of Rs 40,83,876. The other umpire KN Ananthapadmanabhan received Rs. 26.65 Lakhs for all his services.
The former Indian fast bowler and now the ICC Match referee Javagal Srinath was paid an amount of Rs 26 Lakh for performing his duties during the IPL matches.

This is a pretty much handsome amount given to the umpires as earlier it used to be said that umpires always complaint regarding lower pays during the domestic matches but now it seems that they are satisfied with their pays and all.
The best way for them to increase their income is by standing in International matches which can only be done by increasing their level of skills needed while umpiring. Nowadays we only see two or three Indian umpires officiating in the international matches, out of these S. Ravi is the renowned figure in this field. He made a history as he was one of the on-field umpires who were handed the charge in the historic day-night pink ball test match between Australia and New Zealand played last year. He was also seen standing on the historic Lords ground in the contest between Sri Lanka and England.

BCCI is too planning to make India a powerhouse of international umpires as last year we saw that BCCI organised a workshop for umpires. An international level umpire was called in to teach the basic art of umpiring to the Indian umpires. Surely India will become a powerhouse of umpiring in few years to come.
