Kumar Sangakkara will end his brilliant Test carrier at P Sara Oval later this month. Both Mahela Jaywardne and Sangakkara have contributed to Sri Lankan and World cricket. Together, both of them have created momentous legacy for Sri Lankan cricket. When we look at the numbers in cricket we see very few big names right up there. Kumar Sangarka has been excellent role model for the country and given many moments to cherish.

With 12,305 runs in 132 Test matches and 229 innings, Sangakkara is the 5th highest Test runs getter of all time. Sangakkara has done so much for Sri Lanka cricket as he has contributed to the team in One day Internationals. He has scored 38 centuries including 10 double tons which shows the consistency of this legendary player. The numbers are mind-blowing and his achievements will be measured by his numbers. Sangakkara has put a lot of hard work which as per him is the secret behind the success. His attitude and approach towards the game make him what he is today, Mahela said.

Both of them are very close friends. Their contribution to the Sri Lankan is great and number of runs they have put together shows the way both of them have played for Sri Lanka. After Sangakkara retires it is the job of youngsters to take Sri Lankan cricket forward. ‘There are many areas both of us would like to contribute so we will wait and look at the possibilities,” said the former Sri Lanka captain.

He along with Kumar has plans for Sri Lanka cricket provided the present set of administrators give the authority to go ahead.

The two Sri Lankan greats have been brilliant with the style of play since they began playing together for the national team when Sanga debuted and Mahela Jayawarnde was the vice captain of the team.

Sangakkara has been a role model for cricket and his attitude towards the game makes him a special player. Sri Lanka will be hoping to give a fine farewell for Sangakara.
