The Kerala player Sanju Samson’s name is always taken when MS Dhoni’s replacement debate goes around. He also got the opportunity against New Zealand this year to prove his worth but he failed to impress the team management. He easily gave up his wickets which raised questioned on his talent. However, the youngster has not lost hope, and he doesn’t want to give up easily.
Sanju Samson made the debut in Team India in 2015 but was dropped from the team after playing just one T20I against Zimbabwe. His name again rose during the selection of MS Dhoni’s replacement as the former Indian captain went under sabbatical. However, Rishabh Pant was given opportunity across all the formats. But the youngster failed to live up to the expectations and had a downfall.
As Pant floundered to get back to his form, fans started arguing to replace him with Sanju in the team. Luckily, the latter also got the opportunity but he also disappointed everyone with his ineffective performances. Well, he was also trolled for letting his chance to go into vain.
I need to find my own shoes: Sanju Samson
In the recent interview, Sanju expressed that he didn’t get effected from what an outsider had an opinion about him. He added that he would never lose hope.
People can talk about anything they want to. I respect that fact, but at the same time, I’m mature enough to understand where I stand as a cricketer or where I stand in my career.
“Sanju Samson also further added that he didn’t want to step into MS Dhoni’s shoe but want to find his own,” Sanju said.
“I never compare myself or never think about being a replacement for MS Dhoni. It is realistically impossible to compare myself or anyone with him. I need to find my own shoes and get into them,” said Sanju.
The 25-year-old has, so far, played in four T20I matches and scored 35 runs at an average of 8.75.
