Satire: Rajinikanth to play Sir Ravindra Jadeja in cricketer’s biopic

It’s for sure, the season of cricketers’ biopics – starting from Emraan Hashmi’s “Azhar” to Sushant Singh Rajput’s “MS Dhoni” to the biggest one of those – “Sachin”, the teaser of which released last month to unprecedented fanfare. However, what’s coming up next in the line, will be completely insurmountable. Bollywood’s biopic specialist, director Ram Gopal Varma has an announcement over his next project and it would be a biopic on the life of Indian cricket’s legendary figure Sir Ravindra Jadeja and the sensational news is that the lead role would be played by, hold your breath, stay calm, none other than Superstar Rajinikanth!!

“It’s now raining biopics on Indian cricketers, so it’s about time I put the end in that trend and here I present to you a unique one, making a biopic which can never be surpassed. The biopic will be on Sir Jadeja who is the ultimate euphoria which one can achieve. I have already decided the title of the movie, it will be called ‘Sir’ and it’s just apt that I have the superman of cinema, Superstar Rajinikanth to play Jaddu. As you know both their lives have had similar trajectories – from being a nobody at first, Sir has become India’s finest all-rounder and obviously, India’s first unofficially knighted cricketer,” the Bhoot director told in a recent interview.

Superstar Rajinikanth made no mistake but to pounce on the social media to express his delight, claiming that it was his life’s biggest privilege to grab an opportunity to play Sir Jadeja on screen. His bosom friend, the Big B of Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan, meanwhile, has a word of caution for Rajinikanth. “T – 666: @superstarrajini to play Sir @imjadeja in @rgvzoomin’s next biopic. Wow! just hope it doesn’t become Rajini ki Aag! Hahahaha” Shahenshah tweeted before RGV replied that Amitabh would still prefer Aag to the Panama Papers any day.

Despite his busy schedule, Ravindra Jadeja somehow managed to give an interview where he said: “I have recently read about this in the newspapers. I am pretty sure that Rajini cannot enact my role perfectly because the only one who can be me is me. But anyway, hope he does a good job and does not stain my hard-earned image.”

MS Dhoni was extremely happy when he heard the news about this new biopic. “We always knew he is someone very special, you have seen it, as he has played a significant part in rebuilding Indian cricket. We got him like an oasis in the desert. He stood up as a legendary figure when all the experienced players were retiring from cricket.

The news has already drawn some remarkable reactions from British monarch Queen Elizabeth. “I have heard about this Sir of Indian cricket, whom I haven’t knighted yet, from Kate and William after their recent India trip and my wish is to see the movie at the earliest  – (If Sir hits one run, it’s like he has hit 100 runs]” a statement from the British Monarchy read like this.

The movie is said to have a song in which Jadeja is batting, fielding, and bowling at the same time, indicating the multiple talents this legend possesses. The story revolves around the life of a boy who was always made fun of during his teenage years due to his constant failures on the cricket pitch. The story goes on to tell how he came back and managed to put up some stupendous performances with bat and ball.

However, an RGV movie is never complete without a pinch of uniqueness embedded in it. The twist here is that he is made fun of more and more as his performances get better by the day. And in no time, the ‘Rockstar’ of Gujarat Lions and the ‘Jaddu’ of the Indian cricket team transforms into a legend and a cricket visionary ‘Sir Ravindra Jadeja’.

Dramatically in what could pose some tough competition as music channel, MTV has suddenly announced that they have also decided to come up with a biopic on Indian cricketing sensation Virat Kohli, starring Roadies’ famous Raghu Ram. “With Pahlaj Nihalani at the helm of affairs in Central Board of Film Certification of India, it may become India’s next silent movie after Pushpak,” an MTV spokesperson revealed.
