The outbreak of coronavirus has triggered India’s annual cricket festival, Indian Premier League. The 13th edition of the popular league has been postponed indefinitely to curb the spread of the deadly virus. As the fans are missing the IPL time, the Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan who is the Kolkata Knight Riders franchise owner also misses the tournament.
The government across the world has declared lockdown to follow social distancing to fight the virus which has taken lives of over 1,66,041 people. India had also extended the lockdown from 14th April to 3rd May.

Board Control of Cricket in India had also to take the decision to cancel all the international series as well as postpone the IPL. The tournament was earlier scheduled to start from 29th March but was postponed till 15th April. But now with increasing cases of affected people in India and worldwide, the Indian board had to postpone it indefinitely.
In normal circumstances, the fans would have witnessed the thrilling start of the tournament with the match between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. The two teams are the tough competitor of each other and would have said the tone for the 13th edition.

Last year, KKR finished fifth in the points table with winning six matches out of 14. In IPL 2020 auction, they bought the most expensive player of IPL history, Pat Cummins, for whopping money of INR 15.50 crore. They had also bought the England captain Eoin Morgan for INR 5.25 Core. Unfortunately, the unprecedented virus has put the whole world in a standstill.
