Shane Watson, who captained Australia in the 3rd T20 of the recently concluded series versus India, has said that Indian cricket team will start the tournament as favourites for the T20 World Cup 2016. He also added that his team has a lot of catching work to do before the T20 World Cup.

Watson also said that not because of this series, India were always a favourite side to win the T20 World Cup. But obviously, with the World Cup at home and the number of World Class batsman and the spinners they have, it just multiplies their chances. He also added that they know how to handle pressure, and the way they did it in 2011 World Cup, they were always going to be favourites even if they had lost this series.

India defeated Australia 3-0 in the T20 series, after having lost the ODI series 4-1. By clean sweeping Australia, India became the first side to do that in the past 140 years.

Acting skipper Shane Watson did score a century but it all went in vain. When asked if that miss stumping of Raina costed them the match, he said that it turned out that way but added that it was not an easy chance. He added that Raina is instrumental when it comes to taking his side home in T20s and we all have seen that in the IPL as well as the International level.

When asked if he would love to bat up the order especially after the way he batted today, he said that loves to open the innings but did say that he has adjusted his game well and is ready to bat at any position for Australia in the future.

On being asked if the IPL auctions motivated him for this sort of innings, he said in jest ‘ There’s an auction, is there? ‘. But even he knows the importance of this innings in the upcoming IPL auctions.
