Shikhar Dhawan Joins Delhi For Ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019-20

The Delhi team received a major boost as veteran batsman Shikhar Dhawan has joined the team for the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019-20. Dhawan had taken a small gap after the T20I series against South Africa. As Dhawan is currently not playing for the national side, it is a good idea to go back to the List A format.

However, Dhawan will need to wait to get back into Delhi colors as their match has been abandoned due to rain. In fact, Delhi both matches have ended in no result as the rain has played a spoilsport.

Delhi had won the Vijay Hazare trophy back in 2012-13 and they would like to give their best performance in the ongoing edition. Dhruv Shorey-led side is slated to face Baroda (October 5), Uttar Pradesh (October 8), Odisha (October 10), Punjab (October 14) and Haryana (October 16) next.

Apart from the List A matches, Shikhar Dhawan will also be part of the Ranji Trophy as he is not part of the Indian Test team. However, in the previous season, the southpaw batsman had taken a break from the domestic circuit to be fresh for the World Cup.

Shikhar Dhawan has all the experience under his belt and Delhi will hope that the left-hander delivers the goods for the team. On the other hand, Delhi will miss out on the services of Rishabh Pant. The wicket-keeper batsman is with the national side. However, he was not picked for the first Test match against South Africa. But Pant will stay with the team and he will also be part of the Indian squad for the series against Bangladesh.

Delhi squad: Dhruv Shorey (captain), Shikhar Dhawan, Nitish Rana, Himmat Singh, Hiten Dalal, Kunal Chandela, Lalit Yadav, Pawan Negi, Navdeep Saini, Subodh Bhati, Kulwant Khejroliya, Manan Sharma, Kunwar Bhiduri, Vikas Tokas, Tejas Baroka, Anuj Rawat
