Shikhar Dhawan to Miss First Three ODI’s Against Australia

Team India opener Shikhar Dhawan won’t be part of the Indian squad for the first 3 ODI’s against Australia starting from 17th September. Dhawan requested for a break to attend his ailing wife Ayesha Mukherjee, and his request was granted. Reports from Cricbuzz also stated that no replacement had been named for Dhawan as of now.

Meanwhile, Dhawan was in a sensational form all through the Sri Lankan tour and was the leading run getter for India. Making a comeback in Tests, Dhawan responded with a breathtaking 191 and added another century in the final Test. The southpaw also smashed an unbeaten match winning century during the 3rd ODI and looked in ominous touch all through out the series.

It will be a minor setback for the home team as the southpaw was in terrific form coming into the series, but given the replacements, India has it won’t be a huge issue to address. Dhawan regained his lost touch during the ICC Champions Trophy in England where he finished as the leading run getter, but unlike 2013 his efforts weren’t enough to help India lift their 2nd consecutive Champions Trophy title.

Meanwhile, the India Australia series will be a mouth watering contest, and despite India going into the series as favourites, the Aussies will also be a tough nut to crack, and we might be expecting a hard-fought series. Former Indian batsman VVS Laxman predicted a 4-1 result in favour of the home team while former Aussie skipper Michael Clarke gave a 3-2 predict in favour of Australia.

Now coming to a bit of history between Shikhar and his wife Ayesha, the couple got to know each other from Facebook and it was Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh who introduced them as he was the mutual friend of the two. Shikhar then liked Ayesha’s pics and sent her a friend request. From there on the friendship became stronger and both fell for each other. The couple tied the knot on 30th October 2012. Ayesha has two daughters from her earlier marriage with an Australia businessman.
