One of the shocking decisions came from Pakistan Cricket Board on Wednesday when they announced Misbah-ul-Haq to be the head coach and the chief selector of the team. It took fans to the surprise, as they rarely come across head coach being the chief selector. Meanwhile, Shoaib Akhtar makes fun of the decision.
Former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Akhtar took a friendly dig at former teammate Misbah-ul-Haq after he was appointed as the head coach and chief selector of the national team. Akhtar quoted that he is surprised to see Misbah-Ul-Haq not being appointed as the chairman of PCB.

However, later, Akhtar himself quoted that he was just joking and then congratulated the former skipper, who turned into coach cum selector Misbah-ul-Haq. Besides that, the fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar believes that Misbah-ul-Haq can do the job for Pakistan as he did as a captain.
Shoaib Akhtar’s post read: “Congratulations to @captainmisbahpk for the new ‘dual’ role of Head Coach as well as Chief Selector for Pakistan Cricket Team. I am surprised he is not appointed the Chairman PCB as well along with it. Hahahaha. i am just kidding. I really hope he does wonders like before.”

In line with the PCB’s commitment to ensure transparency, accountability and role clarity at all levels, Misbah was also named as the Chairman of Selectors with head coaches of the six first-class Cricket Association sides as his fellow selectors.
On the recommendation of Misbah, the PCB also named two-time former head coach and ICC Cricket Hall of Famer Waqar Younis as bowling coach of the national side on a three-year contract.
The Misbah-Waqar duo’s first test will be the upcoming One-day International and Twenty20 home series against Sri Lanka, which will be played from September 27 to October 9. Misbah and Waqar have previously worked as a pair from May 2014 to April 2016 with the former as captain and the latter as head coach.
