Gujarat Titans will be playing the final of the Indian Premier League in front of their home crowd in the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, 29 May. Gujarat Titans, who have dominated the tournament throughout and topped the group stage, stormed into the final on Tuesday, 24 May.

Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad will be welcoming home team Gujarat Titans on May 29. A sold-out stadium is expected to be buzzing in support of the home team who will play the IPL final in their first season.

Gujarat Titans Batter David Miller’s Unbeaten Takes Gujarat Into The IPL 2022 Finals

Playing at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata in Qualifier 1 between Gujarat and Rajasthan, David Miller hit three sixes in the first three balls of the last over to take GT over the line, in what turned out to be a tense game in the IPL playoffs.

Needing 16 off 6 balls, David Miller (68* off 38) completed the chase in style, smacking three successive sixes off Prasidh Krishna in the final over. Debutant Gujarat Titans stormed into their maiden IPL final with this comprehensive 7-wicket victory over Rajasthan Royals.

On a track that was two-paced, Rajasthan Royals rode on opener Jos Buttler’s 56-ball-89 to post 188 for six in 20 overs, which seemed like a winning total considering the pressure of the occasion. But Hardik Pandya (40 no off 27 balls) and David Miller (68 off 38 balls) added 101 runs in exactly 10 overs to seal the deal with three balls to spare.

Speaking after the game Gujarat Titans batsman Shubman Gill who gave his team a ballistic start in the Qualifier 1 said that he is very excited to play the finals in front of the home fans at Ahmedabad’s Motera Stadium. A packed stadium is expected in the Narendra Modi stadium, which holds a capacity of one lakh, the highest in India and at par with the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia.

“I hear that there is going to be a huge packed ground in Ahmedabad?” man of the match David Miller asked Shubman Gill in the post-match catch-up.

“I am very excited. I have never played with a crowd of over a lakh people watching us and it will be pretty amazing and the atmosphere will be something that we can feed off. So hopefully it will be a great game for us,” said Shubman Gill.

Gujarat has been exceptional under the leadership of Hardik Pandya, who has led from the front, scoring 453 runs in the tournament. They have had match winners in every department, with the likes of Wriddhiman Saha, David Miller, Rashid Khan, and Rahul Tewatia putting their hands up whenever needed.

In Qualifier 1, Gujarat opener Shubman Gill got run out on the 4th ball of the 8th over after getting involved in a horrible mix-up with Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Matthew Wade. Shubman Gill’s innings ended at 35 runs of 21 balls, including 5 fours and 1 six.
