Six things to know about this IPL 2016's Saturday auction

Auction for Indian Premier League will take place on Saturday in Bangalore. The ninth edition of the IPL will start on April 9, just six days after the World T20 2016. This edition will get two new teams- Gujarat Lions and Rising Pune Super Giants- after Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals were banned as their officials and co-owners were found guilty of betting.

Here is what to know about the 9th IPL player’s auction:

1) How many players will be up for grab?

This season total 351 players from various countries will be available in the auction. Among them 230 players will be India and only 116 will be picked by eight franchises.

2) Who are the most expensive players?

The highest base price of player of this edition will be 2 crores. The list of most expensive players of the ninth edition of IPL are Yuvraj Singh, Ishant Sharma, Kevin Pietersen, Shane Watson, Ashish Nehra, Dinesh Karthik, Dhawal Kulkarni, Sanju Samson, Stuart Binny, Michael Hussey, Kane Richardson, Mitchell Marsh.

3) Who have how much in their coffers?

Delhi Daredevils will start the auction with 37.15 crore, which is the highest among all eight franchises. Second highest is Sunriser Hyderabad with 30.15 crores followed by Punjab 23 crore, Royals Challengers Bengaluru 21.625 crore, Kolkata 17.95 crore, Mumbai Indians 14.405. Meanwhile, the two new franchise Pune and Gujrat will have 27 crores respectively to make their full teams.

4) What about the two new franchises?

Pune and Rajkot have already picked five players each from now suspended CSK and RR. With the remaining money, they have to make a complete team. Both teams will have to make 16 team squads respectively. For Pune captain, MS Dhoni and coach Stephen Fleming will take a decision about players while Raina and Brad Hodge will do the same for Gujarat Lions.

5) On Which overseas cricketers franchise will keep an eye?

Kevin Pietersen, Jos Buttler, Shane Watson, Dwayne Smith, Mitchell Marsh, Dale Steyn, Aaron Finch.
