India’s premier pacer Mohammed Shami doesn’t believe that the presence or absence of Steve Smith and David Warner in the Australia team during the Test series later this year will make any difference for him.
India first time won the Test series against Australia last year. Although India won the Test series, they were not fully credited for the victory because the Australian team was labelled weak because of the absence of Steve Smith and David Warner. They were serving the ban period imposed by Cricket Australia after they were found guilty of ball-tampering during the Test series against South Africa.
But this year, Smith and Warner are available to play the four-match Test series against India. Thus, it would be a real test for Virat Kohli’s men to prove that they deserved the victory.
Australia tour will be a real Test: Mohammed Shami
Mohammed Shami admitted that the Test series will be a real test for everyone, but he doesn’t admit that the presence of Smith and Warner will make any difference.
“Their absence or presence doesn’t make a difference to me. Test cricket isn’t a short format where they will smash a quick-fire innings and go. A Test is a test of everything. It will be enjoyable. series. Both teams will be ready,” Mohammed Shami said.
Mohammed Shami is grateful that they have got Indian Premier League before the Test series to prepare themselves. He believes that the ongoing tournament will help them to prepare mentally for the coming bilateral series.
“The good thing is that we’ve had the IPL before this tour. Everyone’s body is used to cricket now. We were playing for a long time. When you’re playing international cricket, you must be always mentally prepared to play,” he added.
