Former Indian captain and current Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president Sourav Ganguly is about to write an autobiography. Sourav is one of the greatest cricketers of the world. Under his captaincy, India has won many laurels.
He was asked what will be the name of his book – is it Comeback Kings? But Ganguly, at his aggressive best, snapped the idea. He said, “That could be a chapter in my autobiography,” Ganguly laughed when asked why not.
He also said he did not start writing for the book. His publisher Juggernaut headed by Ms. Chiki Sarkar told him he was too young to write on yet. “And you should not write an autobiography till you can be absolutely honest,” Ms. Sarkar said.
The name of the book will be – A Century is Not Enough – yes that’s what Ganguly’s book will be called. The book will be comprised of chapters – challenges he faced, challenges not just in cricket but in all that went into scoring those centuries, challenges which Ganguly says will resonate with you and me.
“Your boss doesn’t like your face, ” he says, “That’s happened to mean could happen to you and may be you are not getting ahead in your profession as quickly as you think you deserve.”
The book will also comprise of the phase when India got a new coach. Ganguly couldn’t sleep. That coach played a role when Ganguly was dropped from the team.
When Ganguly was asked about the book, he said, “A century is not enough goes with the life of a lot of people because many are not blessed like Sachin Tendulkar. You don’t always get that extra advantage because you are so good. Every other player in the world has gone through this. One has to learn how to deal with life.”
Renewed Bengali sports journalist Gautam Bhattacharya would work with him on the book. The book will hit shelves next year.
The fans of Dada – Ganguly’s nickname given by his fans and teammates – will have to wait till 2017 to buy the book A Century is Not Enough. When he announced the name of the book, he doesn’t know why the name of the book sounds familiar with his life?
It seems the name of the book is inspired from James Bond’s The World is Not Enough. It will not be an exaggeration to say that Ganguly is the James Bond of cricket.
Meanwhile, Ganguly also spoke about his role in appointing team India’s new coach, “ I once had an opportunity to pick a coach in 2005 and I messed it up. To be honest, I have been thinking of coaching India a couple of years back, today I am selecting one. That is how life is, nothing is guaranteed.”
