South Africa’s loss takes India on top of test rankings

In the latest ICC rankings announced just few minutes ago indicates that India became the number 1 test team in the world.After South Africa lost the 3rd test match against England, the Indian cricket team becomes the new number 1 ranked team in test matches after the gap of 5 years.  The England team outplayed South African in the 3rd test match and won the match by 7 wickets. England by the virtue of winning this test match take a commanding 2-0 lead with one test match to go.

In the 3rd test match at Johansburg, England led South Africa by 10 runs. Second innings for South Africa was a disastrous as they were bundled out for 83 thanks a brilliant spell by Stuart Broad who picked 6 wickets giving only 17 runs. England chasing a target of 74, won the match by 7 wickets.

India became the number 1 ranked team with 110 points. Australia who was 3rd in test rankings has jumped to the 2nd spot with 109 points.




South Africa who lost the four test match series to England just now has slipped to number 3rd to rankings from 1st spot. The fourth place is occupied by Pakistan with 106 points. The fifth place is occupied by England who defeated South Africa in the 3rd test match.

The sixth place is occupied by New Zealand, followed by Sri Lanka who recently lost to New Zealand one month ago.

The eighth place is occupied by West Indies who lost the test series against Australia, the ninth place is occupied by Bangladesh. The last place is occupied by Zimbwawe. Here we look at the rankings.
