Spectacular Catch by the Big Man from Bermuda

Nikhil Deshpande / 04 August 2014

Dwayne Leverock, the Big man from Bermuda – as most people knew him back at World Cup 2007 – took one of the best catches at World Cup 2007 and arguably one of the best catches in World Cup history against India in the group stages.

It was the first ball of the 2nd over of the Indian innings when Robin Uthappa edged one which initiallyseemed to be too far to the right of Dwayne Leverock fielding at the 1st slip. But to the amazement and sheer delight of everyone, except Robin Uthappa and the Indian team ofcourse, the Big man dived full stretch to his right and snatched the ball with his wide spread right hand.

The celebration after the catch were equally splendid to catch with Dwayne evading all his teammates and took, what seemed to be, a lap of honour on one side and the 17-year old bowler went crazy on the other side of the field breaking into tears eventually overwhelmed by the whole thing.

Have a look at this Amazing catch and then watch it again just for the celebrations.
