Spectators turned fielders: Awesome one handed crowd catches

Paulami Chakraborty / 13 August 2015

Cricket is a game that, ever since its invention, has made fans all over the globe. The nail-biting moments that the game produces sometimes make the viewers get involved so much that even they turn the part of the match. It is not always about celebrating or mourning at the results, but also with taking catches. Till date, there have been moments when we’ve seen spectators take astonishing catches and here are three assorted catches of the lot that are the best of the best.

3. Corey caught beyond the boundary

India were in New Zealand and Ishant Sharma had bowled with a hope to get Corey Anderson out. The catch was taken, but the ball had already travelled enough in the air to find itself in the hands of one of the spectator. While Ishant seemed sad for being sent for a sixer, the spectator was in cloud nine seeing his team progress in leaps and bounds and also being able to become a wonder with a left-handed fielding genius. Here’s the video :

2. The sliding catch

It is really hard to slide and still maintain to an awesome one handed catch. Well, not for this guy! While turning up for a Twenty20 match, the man came in with full pace and took a sliding catch with one hand. And guess what he did the next? Went back to his friend blushing and sat casually. Have a look:

1. A catch while chilling out

What did an average man do with one of his hands engaged? He calmly walks along the sidelines of the gallery and takes a superb one handed catch just like that. Watch here as Australia faces Sri Lanka and Haddin hits a huge six but it ends up in a catch- IN THE CROWD that is. When the whole bunch of spectators are going crazy about the catch guess how the hero himself might have reacted? By talking to someone over phone! Visual aid:
