The Sri Lanka’s right arm Fast bowler Shaminda Eranga, who is a part of Lankan team playing a long tour in England, has been hospitalised in with a heart illness, Sri Lanka Cricket sources said here on Sunday (June 19).
Eranga who is undergoing through a rough face has been hospitalised just two days prior to the first ODI of the Five match ODI series. The first match of the limited over series is scheduled to be played after two days in Nottingham.
Eranga is the third casualty to Sri Lanka’s camp in this series as they have already missed services of Dhammika Prasad and DushmanthaChameera during the Test series following an injury.
In another news, Eranga was called for a suspect action during the second Test of the series at Chester le street. He was almost set to face test at Loughborough University tomorrow to get his action tested. He might have missed the rest of the series due to a violation of the 15 degrees rule.
Eranga has almost been an average player for SRI Lanka as in 19 test matches played by him, he has scalped 57 wickets. In 19 ODI’s a total number of 21 batsmen have fell prey to him. In 3 T20I’s he has dismissed 3 batsmen. This record suggests that he is not best of the pacers in the Lankan bowling attack.
Amid the Ireland ODIs, the Sri Lankan team is all set to face the England team in a five-match ODI series followed by lone T20. It can be expected that the Lankan team will give a tough competition to the hosts as the Lankan team won both the ODI’s against Ireland by a comfortable margin. The batsmen found their form back so as the bowlers. It can be said that this will not be a cake for the hosts.
