On Day 5 the match began half an hour late due to wet outfield. Chasing a target of 153 runs, the Sri Lankan team sent Vithanage and Karunathe as openers. Vithange smashed the Pakistan bowlers and put pressure on them immediately. Vithange hit quick fire 34 runs before getting holed out in the deep to Babar. In the next over Kumar Sangakara was dismissed for 0 by Yasir Shah. Then, Karunathe and Mathews stitched another crucial partnership of 72 runs for the 3rd wicket. Karunathe hit a well made 50 and was dismissed by Yasir Shah. Mathews and Thirmane ended the match as Sri Lanka won the second Test match by 7 wickets. With this win Sri Lanka has equalized the series at 1-1.

It was an excellent performance by the Sri Lankan team who were outplayed in the first Test match at Galle but cameback stronger in this match with brilliant all round performance. The batsman played key role and also the bowlers who did an excellent job. Dhammika Prasad was the best bowler for Sri Lanka.

For Pakistan it was a disappointing match as the batsman were bowled for 138 in the first innings and in the second innings apart from Azhar Ali no body was able to put pressure on the Sri Lankan bowlers. All in all it was a forgettable game for Pakistan batsman.

The third Test match is from 3th July at Kandy and it promises to be a good test match.
