Gautam Gambhir made his ODI debut in 2003 versus Bangladesh and Test debut in 2004 versus Australia.
Ever since then he was a part of the Indian dressing room.
Even though in his early days he didn’t get many chances due to the
presence of star players like Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, and Sourav Ganguly.
In the beginning, after some poor performance in the Tests, he was
dropped but he came back soon. Even in the ODIs, he wasn’t at his best, he kept getting chances but was not converting them.
Then, in ’07, after all, the star players backed out from playing the World T20, Gambhir was selected and asked to open the innings and that was the turning point for his career.
