Sudipta / 17 November 2015

This fascinating records achieved by only thirteen cricketers in the history of Test cricketers. All-rounders like Imran Khan, Kapil Dev, Ian Botham and Richard Hadlee have featured this list. But this list is also comprised of a few surprising names. This cricketers are known for their bowling but sometimes their batting played an instrumental role in matches.

The 34-year-old Mitchell Johnson has signed off his career with a two-wicket haul in the final innings of his cricket career in a drawn Test at W.A.C.A Perth.

“I feel now is the best time to say goodbye,” he said. “I have been lucky to have a wonderful career and enjoyed every moment playing for my country.”

Johnson hangs his boot being the fourth highest wicket taker for Australia with 313 wickets in 73 matches. His total haul in international cricket is 590 across the all three formats.

Johnson was given a guard of honour by New Zealand cricketers when he went to bat for the last time. The crowd has given him a standing ovation as he emerged for his last Test innings  shortly before lunch on the final day in Perth. Johnson scored 29 off 45 balls. Johnson was a handy left-handed batsman for Australia. He has one Test hundred and two half-century in ODI cricket.

He is among the 13 cricketers of the world who has scored 2000 runs and taken 300 Test wicket.

The W.A.C.A will be always special for Johnson as he registered astonishing record at the historic ground.

“It’s been an incredible ride,” Johnson said. “But the ride has to come to an end at some point and to do so here at the Waca is very special.

“I’ve given the decision a lot of thoughts. Beyond this match, I’m just not sure that I can continue competing consistently at the level required to wear the Baggy Green.”

Johnson has taken 43 ODI wicket against India and 87 Test wicket against England. Both were the best in his career.
