In the history of Indian cricket, 32 captains have led Indian team in test matches . Virat Kohli by scoring a double century in the ongoing first test match against West Indies became the first Indian captain to score a century outside India. Scoring big runs being the captain of the Indian team is a huge achievement. Here we look at the top 5 Indian captains with highest scores in test matches.
- MS Dhoni 224 against Australia
MS Dhoni is the highest scorer as an Indian test captain. He scored 224 against Australia at Chennai. MS Dhoni scored the 224 runs on 22nd February 2013 during the Border- Gavaskar series held in India. During that innings, he faced 265 balls in which he smashed 25 fours and 6 sixes which helped India to post a huge total. MS Dhoni spent 365 minutes at the crease on a tough Chennai wicket. He retired from test cricket in 2014.
2. Sachin Tendulkar

MAK Pataudi led the Indian team in 40 matches, winning 9, losing 19 and drawing 12. He was one great during 1960’s. MAK Pataudi made 203 not out at Delhi. His 203 not out as a captain came on 8th February 1964. During that innings, he smashed 23 fours and 2 sixes. Pataudi spent 430 minutes at the crease during that innings.

Kohli surpassed Mohammad Azharuddin to enter into the list of top scorers list. Kohli scored 200 during the ongoing first test match against West Indies played at Antigua. During that innings he faced 283 balls, smashing 24 boundaries. He spent a lot of time during the double century knock.
