Debutant Stiaan Van Zyl, when he reached his maiden ODI hundred against West Indies in the first Test at Centurion last night, became the fifth South African batsman to score a century on Test debut.

Van Zyl now joins the elite panel of Andrew Hudson, Jacques Rudolph, Alviro Peterson and Faf du Plessis who have achieved the feat in their career. Van Zyl scored a brisk 101* off 135 balls which included 15 boundaries.

Alviro Peterson too did it against Kolkata at Kolkata in 2010 before Faf du Plessis, the most memorable innings among all scored a match saving 110* off 376 balls earned his side a draw against the mighty Aussies at Adelaide in 2010.
