Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar has picked his India-Pakistan XI in which he selected Virender Sehwag as an opener. There are six Indian players whereas five Pakistan players who make the cut into Gavaskar’s team. The Little Master admitted the fact that the players he has selected may not be the best statistically but he would like them all to play together.

Sehwag opens the batting with former Pakistan legendary batsman Hanif Mohammad. Virender Sehwag was known for his blistering batting and scored his runs at a strike rate of 104 in the 50-overs version. Mohammad had the highest score of 337 runs in the Test fold and he scored 3915 runs in 55 Test matches.

Sunil Gavaskar comes up with a potent side.

Zaheer Abbas bats at number three for Gavaskar. Abbas was one of Pakistan’s finest batsmen and scored 5062 runs in Test format whereas he amassed 2572 runs in the ODI format.

Sachin Tendulkar bats at number four for Sunil Gavaskar. Tendulkar is regarded as one of the best ever batters and he is the leading run-getter in the Test and ODI formats. Former Indian skipper Gundappa Viswanath also gets a  place in the side. Viswanath scored 6080 runs in 91 Test matches for the Indian team.

World Cup-winning captains and all-rounders Kapil Dev and Imran Khan also get a spot in the team. Kapil and Imran led India and Pakistan respectively to glory In the 1983 and 1992 World Cups.

Sunil Gavaskar played with and against the best players

Syed Kirmani takes the gloves for the Gavaskar’s side. Abdul Qadir and BS Chandrasekhar are the two spinners in the side whereas Wasim Akram will take the new ball in the team. Akram is regarded as one of the best swing bowlers and he scalped 502 in the 356 ODI matches.
