Indian cricketer, Suresh Raina’s fielding makes him special than other players. He is the quickest in the field while releasing the ball and aiming at the stumps. His power-packed batting at the middle order and lethal fielding make him a full-package. Raina has named the Test cricketer Ajinkya Rahane as the best fielder in the current Indian team. Surprisingly, he snubbed Ravindra Jadeja, who represent India in all the formats.

Speaking in an interview on SportScreen, Raina opined that Rahane has better catching skills than his counterparts. He can easily bend his body while moving, which makes him different from other fielders.

“Ajinkya Rahane has better catching skills. I always love his positions while fielding. He has a different kind of power. His body can bend when he moves, that is very different from the rest,” Suresh Raina said.

As of now, Rahane, who is the slip fielder, has the second-highest number of catches in Test format after Virat Kohli in the current Indian team. He has picked up 81 catches in 65 Test matches while Indian captain has 82 catches in 86 Test matches. His maximum number of catches reads five in a game.

As per Raina, the Mumbaikar is an absolute Slip-fielder who beforehand understands the batsman’s movement, which helps him to easily grab the catches at his fielding position. Rahane’s practice makes him the better fielder, according to the southpaw.

“He is a very good slip fielder, he judges the batsman’s movement from behind and anticipates, which is very important as the distance is not much between the slip fielder and batsman. He also practices like that so it makes it easier during matches,” he further added.

Meanwhile, Suresh Raina has not played for India since 2018. He has been dropped from the team because of his poor performance with the bat. The 33-year-old Raina plays for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League.
