Kuldeep is the fourth Indian cricketer who has been approached for a county stint. Ravichandran Ashwin, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Ishant Sharma are the three other players who were approached for a county stint. Pujara is playing for Nottinghamshire whereas Ashwin is currently a member of Worcestershire.
As per a report, it was the selectors who asked Ashwin to play county cricket, and he has already missed international games to gain county experience. He is also not the member of the squad for first three ODIs against Australia and is expected to miss full ODI series.

Coming to Ishant, he was approached for a county stint during the IPL, but the declined the offer after being called up by Kings XI Punjab to replace Murali Vijay.
With Indian team set to tour England next year for Test series, we might see many more players getting offers from various counties. In fact, Indian skipper Virat Kohli had too indicated about playing county cricket, and we might also see him playing few games in the time to come.
Though the tight international schedule is awaiting team, India may act as a barrier in the way of Kohli and many other Indian players.
