The injury to Shaun Marsh of Australia during the ICC World Cup 2019 has opened the gates for Pakistan’s opener Fakhar Zaman in the T20 Blast 2019. The stylish southpaw has penned a deal to play for Glamorgan in the upcoming Vitality Blast. He will be playing the first half of the season.
Marsh was ruled out of the closing stages of the World Cup with a fractured forearm, suffered while batting in the nets against Pat Cummins. The Glamorgan club hopes he will be available for the final six group games. For the same, they signed Fakhar Zaman for the first six games.
Disappointing to lose Shaun Marsh – Mark Wallace
Announcing the signing, the Director of Glamorgan cricket, Mark Wallace quoted that they disappointed to lose the services of Shaun Marsh in the initial stages. However, he believes that adding Fakhar Zaman to the side is a piece of great news for the team.

“It is disappointing to lose Shaun Marsh for the start of the competition but to secure the services of Fakhar on short notice is great news for the club. He is a fantastic cricketer and one of the most destructive batsmen in the world who has a history of performing in big matches.”
I am thrilled – Fakhar Zaman
Zaman had a terrible World Cup campaign at his disposal as he ended with 186 runs with just one half-century as Pakistan failed to make it to the top four, but the batsman hopes to put that behind and wants to remind the fond memories of the ground from our Champions Trophy semi-final here in 2017.

“I’m thrilled to sign for Glamorgan and look forward to playing in Cardiff. I have fond memories of the ground from our Champions Trophy semi-final here in 2017 and look forward to making some new ones,” he said. Glamorgan is a fantastic club and hopefully, I can put in some match-winning performances for the team during my stay.”
Fakhar Zaman has played 89 T20 matches in his career, including 30 T20Is and scoring 748 runs in the format at an average of 25.79 and a strike rate of 138.51. In T20, Zaman has played 89 matches scoring 2339 runs at an average of 27.84 at an average of 138.64.
