T20s Doesn’t Make Sense To Stuart Clarke

Former Australian seamer Stuart Clarke seems to share some cold vibes with the most rousing format in cricket, the T20s. Speaking to Fox News on Monday, Clarke called the upcoming T20I series between Australia and Sri Lanka a waste of time and even tagged it as the ‘Who Cares Cup’.
As Australia’s second-string side will be fielded for the three T20Is, their first team would be practicing in Mumbai ahead of forthcoming India tour. Pointing towards the poor scheduling done by Cricket Australia, Clarke said he hasn’t seen anyone going crazy for the T20Is and felt the collision of it with a tough series against India isn’t going to help the cause either.
“You ever heard of the ‘Who Cares Cup?’ This is the ‘Who Cares Cup. We’re not even playing our best team. They’re all in India, having a game of Test cricket.”
Clarke, who played 24 Tests and took 94 wickets for Australia, said he would get rid of T20 cricket for good and that the top players shouldn’t opt to play the format, as they are anyway being rested when the time comes to pick the squad.
He then added there shouldn’t be T20 games played throughout the year and the bracket for them should just be kept for the World T20s.
“I’d get rid of them for good; there’d be no more T20 internationals other than a World Cup every four years. No one cares (about T20Is) because everyone always rests their players. We do it every year.”
As the T20I series starts from February 17, the third match is scheduled to be played on February 22nd, one day before the four-Test series against India commences in Pune.
