India has now become the second-most successful team in the history of ODI World Cups. They registered their 59th win in the marquee event by defeating defending champions England by 100 runs at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Sunday, October 29.

During Team India’s 2023 World Cup match, the bowlers wowed the audience with their incredible skills. After winning the toss, England chose to field first in the ongoing ICC event.

The Indian batsmen managed to put up a respectable 229 runs and the Men in Blue eventually won the game comfortably by 100 runs, with England being bowled out for a pitiful score of 129.

With the victory against England, Rohit Sharma-led side has surpassed New Zealand to take over the second spot in terms of the most matches won in the ODI World Cup. The five-time champions Australia have won more matches than India in ODI World Cups (73).

After Australia and India, New Zealand has won 58 matches in the ODI World Cup, England has won 50, Pakistan has won 47, while South Africa and West Indies have won 43 matches each.

The Men in Blue also has the second-highest winning percentage in ODI World Cups, coming out on top in 65.56% of their matches in the marquee tournament. They sit above South Africa (61.43%) in this list and behind the Aussies (73%).

The Men in Blue will be one of the favourites to win the championship, as they have almost a full-strength squad and well-settled unit heading the primary 50-over competition in the World and they will look to continue their fine form going forward in the tournament.
