Australian pacer Pat Cummins has lauded his team’s bowling effort on day three of the pink ball against India at Adelaide Oval. The visitors bundled out Virat Kohli and co. for 36 runs in their second innings. And the main architect of this was Josh Hazlewood, who went on to register a five-wicket haul.

India’s wickets fell like a heap of cards with Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane and Ravichandran Ashwin being out for a duck. The skipper Virat Kohli was sent back hut after adding a four in his tally while Hanuma Vihari and Mayank Agarwal scored eight and nine runs respectively. It was a bad day in the office for India while Australia showed the top-notch bowling.

During the post-match presentation, Pat Cummins said that they had planned to halt India for 200 runs but hadn’t thought they would all out India within the first session. He added that they had the best day because everything went according to their plan.

“We thought if we could get them out for 200 today, have a bit of a bat, we’d stay in the game,” Cummins told Channel 7 after claiming 4-21 to go with his three first innings wickets.

“But for that to happen in the first hour, amazing. It was just one of those days where everything came off, everything we tried worked,” said the top-ranked Test bowler.

Pat Cummins revealed that during the first innings, they observed that the pitch offered a lot of bounce but on day three, bowling fuller worked for them. He added that the batsman was finding it hard to leave the ball and it was also witnessed.

“We found in the first innings there was actually a lot of bounce, so to hit the stumps it almost felt like it had to be a half volley.

“But when we got into our work we were able to get up there a bit fuller, make the batters make decisions, make it harder to leave the ball and fortunately it all came off today.”

Pat Cummins recalled that last year, the bowlers had a similar day in the heading but after bowling out India in Adelaide, he has labeled it the best bowling performance of his team.

“Last year in Headingley’s first innings, we had a similar day out. Today and then are by far the best I’ve seen us bowl.”

Australia has continued their unbeaten legacy in Pink Ball at home after beating India by eight wickets and will now strive to clinch the victory in the Test series.
