India fast-bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar has heaped praise on his younger teammate Arshdeep Singh as the latter continues to impress with his bowling. After doing well in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Arshdeep earned a deserved call-up from the Indian team and he has made the most of the opportunity.
The left-arm pacer made his debut against England last month and impressed straightaway. On his debut, he picked up 2 wickets while giving away just 18 runs in his 4 overs. He also bowled a maiden over during the powerplay against England. That performance was enough for him to be named in the squad for the ongoing series against West Indies.

Arshdeep got a place in the playing eleven for the first match and he made the most of it. The youngster once again impressed with his skills as he gave away just 24 runs while claiming two wickets. The 23-year old has made a name for himself because of his ability to bowl yorkers at will and his highly impressive death bowling. Thanks to his consistent performances, Arshdeep is now in contention for a spot in Team India’s squad for this year’s T20 World Cup in Australia.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar on Arshdeep Singh:
Arshdeep Singh has not only impressed the fans with his performances but also his senior teammate Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Speaking to the media ahead of the second T20I against West Indies, Bhuvneshwar lavished praise on Arshdeep and admitted that he was surprised with his teammate’s maturity.
“The best thing about him is that he knows exactly what is required,” Bhuvneshwar told reporters.
“What kind of field setting is needed, how to bowl to each batsman – very few newcomers display that kind of maturity.
Usually you learn these things as you play but he seems to have arrived with that kind of maturity. Even in the IPL in the last couple of years, he has performed consistently. He knows exactly what he wants to do, he thinks a lot about his game,” added Bhuvneshwar.
Meanwhile, India would be looking to make the most of their recent form and take a 2-0 lead when they lock horns against West Indies in the second T20I. India are leading the series after winning the first game by 68 runs.
