The tale of Zaheer Khan’s bunny
Feb 17, 2017 at 12:48 PM
Zaheer Khan called time on his illustrious career and he departs from the game with really fond memories. Khan was undoubtedly India’s best pacer since the turn of the millennium and among the greatest left arm fast bowlers of all time. Zaheer ended his international career for India with 311 test wickets in 92 tests and 282 ODI scalps in 200 games.
Zaheer was a ferocious competitor and like any other competing pacer, he had tussles and rivalries with several batsman. Being a traditional left arm seamer, Zaheer’s primary strength was in taking the ball away from the left handed batsmen. He did so with success and often troubled even the best of batsmen.
One such batsman to face sheer trouble from Zaheer was former South African captain Graeme Smith. Smith might have been one of the finest batsmen from South Africa, but against Zaheer Khan, he struggled miserably. The Indian pacer got the better of Smith as many as 13 times across all international forms of the game. Smith struggled against the in coming delivery as well as the out swingers bowled by Khan.
In the video below, we rewind time and have a look at some of the dismissals in which Zaheer Khan made Graeme Smith his “bunny”.
