2012 – This year saw one of the closest matches in the history of IPL. THe match was played between Delhi Daredevils and Rajasthan Royals at the Feroz Shah Kotla. DD batting first scored 152. Sehwag played a good innings as he scored 63 off 39 balls. As RR came in to bat, Rahul Dravid and Rahane started well. These two scored 99 in 13.4 overs after which Dravid got out. There wasn’t any exceptional bowling performance by the DD bowlers but they bowled well where it mattered the most. 15 runs were required off 12 balls for RR to achieve and two set batsmen were on the crease. Morne Morkel comes on to bowl the 19th over. Morkel bowled a brilliant over as he gave away just 3 runs and also got Hodge out. RR entered the last over with 12 runs get. Rahane manages to score 10 off first 5 balls, leaving two for the last ball. As Umesh Yadav bowled the last ball, Rahane missed it and ran for a bye but wicket-keeper did well to hit the wicket and DD won the match by 1 run. Rahane scored 84 off 63 balls but couldn’t guide his team to victory.

It will be interesting to see if today’s match between KKR and RR can make it to the history books. KKR have lost both the matches they have played earlier on this day in previous seasons, whereas RR have won a close match and also lost one.
